Nick has a broad and varied practice which focuses on commercial litigation, arbitration and general dispute resolution and also includes maritime law, commercial law, corporate law, transport law, contract law, insurance law, liability law (including employer’s liability and personal liability of directors of companies) and labour law. Nick succesfully litigated a claim based on director’s liability at the District Court and the Court of Appeal.
Nick graduated as Hydrographer (A) at the Nautical College of Amsterdam in 1991. After having worked world-wide as a hydrographic surveyor for Boskalis and Ballast Nedam for eight years he studied law at the University of Amsterdam and obtained a Master’s degree in 2003. After his graduation he wrote his doctorate thesis “The System of Liability of articles III and IV of the Hague (Visby) Rules“. In 2006 Nick started practicing law.
Nick publishes regularly in national and international law journals. He is also an editor of the Dutch Journal for Commercial Law (“NTHR”) and of the European Journal of Commercial Contract Law. He also lectures commercial law at the University of Amsterdam.
